To clip, or not to clip?
I am wondering whether or not to clip my very furry arab this winter.
He is turned out in a Weatherbeeta 'Landa' Combo Medium. On days reaching around 20 degrees Celsius, he starts to sweat under it. Yes, i arrange to get it taken off on warmer days, but Melbourne weather is unpredictable, and i cant just leave school to go put my horses rug back on 
His previous owner had just a canvas rug on him during winter which seemed to suit him fine. Any opinions? All POLITE suggestions welcome.
sazzy- the lowest it usually gets to is around 3 or 4 degrees, in very very early morning, and a low of 10 degrees during the day.
One of the main reasons i have a rug on him is because he is a grey and a roller- certainly fun for him, but no where near for me.
I would sweat under a Landa at 20c too!
If he's being worked he will need to be clipped for his welfare, so he's not uncomfortably sweaty, and if he's clipped he must be rugged. If he's not being worked (so not clipped) there's really no reason to rug him - rugging will interfere with his own temperature control and if he's sweaty under a rug he will quickly get cold.
