Synthetic Saddle - Top Materials
These saddles are gaining popularity among riders everywhere because they tend to weigh less and cost less than leather saddles, are easy to maintain and clean and come in a wide array of colors and styles. They are produced for both Western Riding and English Riding. Unlike Natural Leather ones, man-made material saddles do not require periodic oiling; these saddles still manage to last for years. The current popular synthetic choices are made out of Cordura, Equileather and Beta BioThane.
This fabric is efficient at resisting scuffs and tears. When it comes to durability, Cordura performs better than cotton duck, nylon and polyester. In order to clean sweat, dirt and mud off of a saddle made from Cordura, all that is needed is a damp cloth. Mild soap can be used for heavy soiling and should be followed by a rinsing with clean water. However, bleach should never be used during cleaning. Cordura saddles are offered in natural tones as well as dark and bright colors.
Another material frequently utilized for synthetic models is Equileather. Riders love Equileather saddles not only because they appear to be realistic and natural like actual leather, but also because they are easy to clean, maintain their flexibility in cold temperatures and can withstand damage that true leather cannot.
Beta BioThane, or Beta for short, is coated in vinyl with an outer thermoplastic polyurethane layer. Flexibility, durability and abrasion resistance are all qualities of Beta-made saddles. There are colors and natural tones to suit every rider's taste and even better, these types of saddles have a feel similar to traditional leather ones.
