How to change SMS alert on Motorola SLVR L7.?

Any way to change the SMS alert? every time I get an SMS from someone that has a ring id, it ends up playing their ring in full. Some of my ringtones are like a minute long, and I would like to put something shorter, like a beep or something.

I have a Razr so I am not sure if it is the same. But they are both Motorola - so try this.
Go to the Main Menu
Click Settings
Click Audio
You should say Style: (specific style for ex: LOUD)
Then it says (Style) Detail
Move down to detail
Click Change
Go to Text Messages
Click Change
Find the vibration or song or noise you want
Click Select
Then click back
And it should be changed
