Cowboy Halter
Help with riding rope!?
I just got a new breed of horse, cowboy. It is a great beginer horse. I ride almost every day. The person bought it from said it could be fitted halter. The good news is you can. The bad news is not good. He will do great for the first few minutes, then slow down and eventually give up and eat grass, even when I show the crop (which hardly ever used to keep the rude comments.) my question is, does anyone do you have suggestions about how to listen without using the crop? When you arrive in this way will not even turn. I travel a bit, but I prefer not. / I also prefer to ride bareback. The neck reins well. All tips are appreciated. Thanks!
sounds like my horse. I use spurs (the blunt end type English are my favorites) and give him a blow and very little attention. every time you stop to graze, shocks, listen. It is basically teaching whether to graze, you have to pay a concequence. So I would say that. Remember, do not jab the horse drive. blow lightly, enough to say "No" thing is an alternate stop the heck out of him. if it is a leg or two, you can kick, but it might make it deadsided. or you could push on until your head leadrope appears. or Smack her rump. Spurs, if used correctly, can be a sensible option. He taught me not to graze my horse when I'm riding it. sometimes still ago, but much less than it used to. So is like a training aid, basically, not the solution.
