Bosal Mecate
Bosal fit for horse with narrow nose bone?
I would like to start riding my horse in a bosal, but I have a question about fit. The bosal I have is a good length for him (2 fingers under his chin with the mecate tied on), and seems to fit well on his cheeks (touching but no pressure), but I'm not sure the nose button fits right. He has a bit of a roman nose and it is fairly narrow so on each side of his nose bone I can fit two fingers between his nose and the bosal. The bosal I have is fairly flat across the nose button, so should I look for one with a sharper curve or is that space okay?

Steve Guitron at the above link is a master braider/designer of bosals and would be happy to give you a professional answer to your question on fitting a bosal on a horse with a narrow "nosebone".....I would contact him with your questions regarding fit. I've purchased some of his leather equipment and his mastery of braiding is something to admire!! He guarantees all of his work.
